Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are used to remember your preferences and improve your browsing experience. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and browser-based storage mechanisms.
2. How We Use Cookies and Storage
HeirVault uses minimal cookies and browser storage, limited to what is necessary for the Service to function:
| Technology | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session Storage | JWT authentication token — keeps you signed in within the current browser tab | Tab session | Essential |
| Local Storage | WalletConnect session data — maintains your wallet connection state | Persistent | Essential |
| Local Storage | RainbowKit wallet preferences — remembers your last connected wallet | Persistent | Functional |
| Local Storage | Cookie consent preference — remembers your cookie consent choice | Persistent | Essential |
| Google Analytics | Optional aggregate usage analytics after you accept analytics cookies. Vault, wallet, transaction, invite, and recovery identifiers are redacted before custom events are sent. | Set by Google after consent | Optional analytics |
3. Third-Party Services
The following third-party services may set their own cookies or use browser storage:
- WalletConnect — for establishing and maintaining wallet connections across supported networks.
- Infura / Alchemy — blockchain RPC providers used for reading on-chain data. These services may log request metadata.
- Google Analytics — optional aggregate analytics only when `NEXT_PUBLIC_GA_ID` is configured and you accept analytics cookies.
We do not use advertising, retargeting, social media tracking pixels, or cross-site profiling. Analytics is disabled unless you explicitly accept it in the cookie banner.
4. What We Do NOT Use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies
- No analytics before consent
- No social media tracking pixels
- No cross-site tracking
- No fingerprinting technologies
5. Managing Cookies and Storage
You can manage or delete cookies and browser storage through your browser settings:
- Use the cookie banner to accept optional analytics or choose essential-only storage.
- Clear site data through your browser's privacy settings to remove all stored data.
- Use your browser's developer tools to selectively remove specific items from localStorage or sessionStorage.
- Disconnect your wallet through the wallet connection UI to clear wallet-related storage.
Note: Clearing essential storage (such as the authentication token) will require you to sign in again with your wallet.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable regulations. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
